RANK STRUCTURE:
CHIEF OF POLICE (1)
The Chief of Police handles all department operations and public relations. Internal Affairs Officers report directly to the Chief, and no one else.
DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE (1)
The Deputy Chief of Police handles all department operations and public relations.
CAPTAIN (1)
The Captain oversees all divisions and stations.
LIEUTENANT (7)
Lieutenants are in charge of divisions, such as the Traffic Division or Detective Division. A Lieutenant is a Watch Commander in the Patrol Division.
SERGEANT (10)
Sergeants are in charge of units, such as the Traffic Enforcement Unit or Criminal Investigations Unit. A Sergeant is a Shift Supervisor in the Patrol Division.
SENIOR OFFICER (22)
Senior Officers are equivelant in rank to Police Officers, but may act as Officers In Charge if no supervisor is present. This rank allows Officers to join specialized units.
POLICE OFFICER (8)
Police Officers are standard Patrol Officers. They may not join any specialized units until they advance to Senior Officer.
PROBATIONARY OFFICER (4)
Probationary Officers are officers who just passed the entrance exam. They are not allowed to patrol by themselves, and must be accompanied by a Field Training Officer on duty. They must complete a total of 12 hours of patrol with a Field Training Officer before being promoted to Police Officer.
DIVISION/UNIT STRUCTURE:
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS DIVISION
The Professional Standards Division is an internal investigative arm of the Chief of Police. It consists of the Internal Affairs Unit. Internal Affairs Officers are immune to administrative punishment except by IA Supervisors/Command Members and the Chief of Police themselves. The Internal Affairs Unit has full jurisdiction over all employees of the Arvilla Police Department, including the Deputy Chief.
TRAINING DIVISION
The Training Division is the recruitment division of the Arvilla Police Department. It consists of the Training & Resources Unit. Training & Resources Unit Officers are responsible for administering exams to recruits, assisting them with questions regarding policy, and help single out and pick candidates with the Chief and Deputy Chief.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH DIVISION
The Community Outreach Division is the public relations division of the Arvilla Police Department. It consists of the Office of Public Relations. Public Relations Officers are responsible for community briefings, press conferences, and advertising.
DETECTIVE DIVISION
The Detective Division is the investigative division of the Arvilla Police Department. It consists of the Street Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigations Unit. Street Crimes Officers are responsible for patrolling around high crime areas and dealing with Street Crimes, such as muggings, car theft, and low-level drug deals. Criminal Investigations Officers are responsible for investigating major crimes, such as homicides, robberies, etc.
SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION
The Special Investigations Division is also the investigative division of the Arvilla Police Department, but it focuses more on gang, narcotics, etc. related crimes. It consists of the Gang Enforcement Unit, Major Crimes Unit, and the Violence Suppression Unit. Gang Enforcement Officers are responsible for gang enforcement throughout Arvilla. Major Crimes Officers assist Violence Suppression Officers and Gang Enforcement Officers in their duties, and also deal with narcotics-related crimes. Violence Suppression Officers are similar to the Street Crimes Unit with how they operate, however, Violence Suppression Officers focus more on organized crime and trafficking.
TRAFFIC DIVISION
The Traffic Division is the division responsible for enforcing traffic-related offenses and more. It consists of the Traffic Enforcement Unit. Traffic Officers handle traffic crimes, such as speeding and DUI, but are also trained to stop pursuits and handle accident scenes.
